Independent Living Skills

 

The following services are available to Regional Center consumers with authorization for services.

 

Independent Living Skills (ILS) provides training and support to persons with developmental disabilities who wish to improve a specific life skill. The program provides the opportunity to receive training in skills that will increase an individual’s ability to live independently in their community. Training is designed to be short term, goal specific and completed through one-on-one education and support that ends when the goal is achieved. Typical training areas include:

  • Public transportation
  • Menu planning
  • Shopping
  • Cooking
  • Money management
  • Housekeeping
  • Self-advocacy
  • Recreation
  • Home and community safety
  • Community resource awareness
  • Personal hygiene
  • Services are designed to help people maximize their independence.
