Julianne's Story
Julianne is a single mother struggling to raise her two young children. She had been actively searching for employment for months, and as her finances began to dwindle, she was forced to make some very difficult changes. Unable to pay her rent, Julianne had no alternative but to relocate her family into a local shelter. Although she faced a challenging situation, she maintained a positive attitude and reassured her children time and time again that, “Everything is going to be okay.”
Julianne diligently sought employment that would provide her family with financial security and the opportunity for her to develop her professional skills. Julianne’s hard work and entering the Subsidized Employment Program with Goodwill has paid off. In a recent turn of events, her prospects have dramatically improved. Through the Subsidized Employment Program (SEP) at Goodwill, Julianne has obtained employment as a Production Assistant at the KRCB radio station.
Julianne is ecstatic about her new position and stated in the interview, “I feel very fortunate. The Subsidized Employment Program is essentially helping me put all the parts into a whole. Without this program, I know this job wouldn’t exist… It’s a wonderful opportunity for me and KRCB!”
The Subsidized Employment Program is a valuable resource that will positively impact our community during our economic recession. It’s not simply financial assistance, but a program that provides career opportunities and a renewed sense of optimism in a dismal economy. Perhaps, Julianne stated it best, “The Subsidized Employment Program is helping me feel inspired and hopeful of the future and realizing my own potential.”
"Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others,
you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness
that you are able to give."
~Eleanor Roosevelt
