Subsidized Transitional
Employment Program (STEP)

STEP is an exciting new pilot program, funded through the Sonoma County Human Services Department, running from April – September 2012. The program offers employers a financial incentive to hire and train SonomaWORKS recipients in full time employment in Sonoma County.

The program matches employers with qualified job seekers from the SonomaWORKS program based on their skills, training and employment history and reimburses up to 50% of the new employees wages for a specified period of time.

The program works with public, private and non-profit businesses. The jobs must be full time and on-going to qualify for the subsidy. This is a wonderful win-win program that offers employers an opportunity to offset some of the expense of on-boarding and initial training and gives the person returning to work a chance to show what they can do for the employer while having a supportive team following the placement for the duration of the subsidy.
